- Hadrosaur Jaw Section and Tooth Fragment
- Judith River Formation, ~79-75 million years old – Montana, USA
- 3.02 inches long (7.67cm) jaw section, .5 inch tooth
This section of jaw is in great condition as is the top half of the included hadrosaur tooth. The tooth was found near the jaw fragment, but this doesn’t necessarily mean the two were from the same animal.
This jaw section and tooth are 100% original with no restoration or filling, the jaw section has been stabilized as there is a crack that goes across the front of the bone, but does not go all the way through to the other side.
Hadrosaurs or duck-billed dinosaurs were plant eaters that had large jaws with what are called “dental batteries”. These dental batteries contained hundreds of teeth in dozens of channeled columns, when one tooth is worn down enough it eventually falls out of the jaw and is replaced by a new unworn tooth.
