Bumpy Pink Chalcedony

This beautiful specimen of chalcedony features a fun, bumpy texture, a rosy-pink coloration on most of the stone, while the more characteristic opaque white color is on one side.

I have seen plenty of chalcedony in my travels through the deserts of the American southwest, and this is one of the most interesting I have come across.

Most all of the chalcedony I have seen generally comes in fairly muted colors, from white to pink, light blue, even reddish.  This stone practically glows in the right light.

Chalcedony is a form of microcrystalline quartz and moganite that forms slowly over time as groundwater flows through voids within subsurface rock that is rich in silica.
