Baculites Ammonite
- A section of Baculites Ammonite
- Pierre Shale Formation, Late Cretaceous – Carter County, Montana, USA
- 1.5″ x 2″ x 1″
This is a beautiful example of a section of Baculites, showing excellently preserved suture lines, as is one of the hallmarks of Cretaceous ammonites. This fossil also has some nice rainbow nacre AKA mother of pearl as well (if a bit faint).
This fossil is 100% original with no restoration or filling. It has been stabilized.
The Pierre Shale is well-known for its many fossils including ammonites, bivalves, marine reptiles and more! Baculites ammonites are one of the more unique fossil ammonites you can find, they sport long, slender, straight shells, along with the characteristic ammonite suture lines.
